Depending on your perspective, you can either choose to embrace or protest the continuing migration of call center work from companies in the U.S. to other countries.  At a minimum, you must recognize that it is happening and that it is largely a cost take-out model.  U.S. businesses are reducing costs and trying to reinvest in other facets of their business (or simply just stay afloat).  There are certainly advantages and disadvantages that would make another great article, but the purpose of this article is to identify the top 10 growing countries for call centers.

  1. China. This is a younger addition to the list of countries that are taking over call centers for U.S. and national businesses, and it’s no wonder why. The Chinese government has always taken education to a higher level, with higher educated individuals within the population. With more English speaking people, lower wages, and more technology, China is now starting to boom within the industry.
  2. South America. The bulk of the call centers can now be found within South America in Brazil and Argentina, with the Spanish qualification landing many more positions for the call center within the country. There are less boundaries due to the fact, and more businesses are finding it much more appealing.
  3. India. Most times when you call a call center today for any reason, you are connecting to a live India office as the country is swelling with outsourced call centers from the states and other areas of the world. This country is at the top of the ladder in countries with call centers today, with dirt cheap wages that increase the value of the country to businesses worldwide.
  4. Philippines. The Philippines is much more Americanized than other countries as it was once a U.S. colony, which is why there are so many businesses choosing to outsource their call centers to this country. The area has more English speaking representatives that are able to operate easily and more profitable to businesses.
  5. Europe. Of course you would think that Europe was a growing call center country due to the vast connections with the U.S. that have been present for many years. Not only do many Americans flock to the country, but the tourism creates a more Americanized country that is able to handle U.S. calls much cheaper.
  6. South Africa. It is great to see that South Africa is added to the list as it is a country that has long been through several challenges. The third world country has for years struggled economically, and is now beginning to grow with the outsourced positions brought to the country.
  7. Czech Republic. This is not a country that has as many call centers as other parts of the world, but the country is growing due to outsourcing that is brining many call center positions to the population, while there is a clear understanding of the American language.
  8. Mexico. The closeness of the country and the integration with the U.S. brings this country to the list, as it is used by many U.S. and global countries that need Spanish speaking representatives to help their customers. The country offers great profit and growth for businesses, and is growing vastly with the outsourcing of U.S. positions to the country for almost more than half the wages.
  9. Poland. This is another like the Czech Republic that is not as popular for outsourced call centers but is definitely growing greatly due to the outsourcing practice of businesses around the globe, bringing call centers through Poland for less pay but more growth within the country.
  10. Russia. Russia may not be thought of as a country that is underprivileged, but the wages are cheaper than the U.S. and that means more money for businesses that bring call centers to the area. This is an easier transition and has great potential for the country and businesses everywhere.

With TV Shows like Outsourced becoming popular and tons of great commercials that characterize outsourcing in humorous ways, we as a nation (U.S.) are almost poking fun at ourselves.  However, one cannot deny the big business that call center outsourcing has become.
